“CAPE” began in 1986 as “Computer-Aided Production Engineering”, reflecting the research strategies as industry and the academic community sought to take advantage of computer technology and its applications in manufacturing. Over the years the topics for CAPE have been continually monitored to keep abreast of the most recent developments in manufacturing processes, design and management research.

CAPE has now been held in four of the five continents (Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia). I am proud that the Institutions of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering & Technology have again agreed to support CAPE, with papers submitted to the conference being considered for publication in the Proceedings of the Institutions.
